WELLBEING & RETREATS
Shareefa has facilitated workshops to provide respite and reflective space during hikes and retreats. She promotes being in nature and Muay Thai martial arts as tools for self-care. She has been hiking in the Amazon in Venezuela and Trinidad to support her wellbeing and mental health. She has been a Muay Thai student for 7 years with Muay Thai Masters Academy and spent 6 months in Thailand training with Lamai Muay Thai.
She recorded a spoken word meditation Walk Through The Jungle encouraging people to be in nature for the Spoke World App. The poem was published in the book Nature Is A Human Right.
She recently facilitated poetry and creative writing reflective workshops with Leicester Ladies Hikers in the countryside and facilitated a writing weekend with Muslim women in Leicester to support their mental health and wellbeing, supported by Parables of Light and the Lantern Initiative. She also facilitated writing workshops at a retreat for the Grenfell local community in Chamonix in France.
Shareefa facilitated numerous workshops with local children after the Grenfell fire, supporting their wellbeing by doing poetry and music projects, sharing tools for self expression and processing loss. Shareefa also supported the children of Mark Duggan and their friends after his unjust death, organising a fun day for the children on Broadwater Farm in Tottenham and facilitated writing workshops with them.
Shareefa is no stranger to complex grief, ptsd and loss. She’s supported the mental health and wellbeing of marginalised communities impacted by state violence to navigate complexities using performing arts and writing. She has also facilitated wellbeing workshops for academics and university students.
